Your laptop is probably one of your most valued possessions, and you surely know that you should never spill anything on your laptop – and despite these two facts, there is also a good chance you have some sort of beverage next to your laptop right now! It can sometimes be the end of the world (or, at least, the end of your laptop’s world) if you spill something onto your laptop keyboard - but if you act quickly and take care of the spill the right way, it does not have to be the end of the world.

Of course, the reason spills are so devastating on a laptop is because all the “computer” machinery on your laptop is tucked away underneath your keyboard, and when that machinery gets wet, it will usually cease to function. But when your computer (and all the machinery inside it) gets wet, it will be a lot less likely to be devastating if the computer is not running, so as soon as your computer gets wet, you should perform an emergency shutdown on your computer by manually pressing the power button for about ten seconds. You should also unplug the computer from the power source – but be careful, as you will probably be wet yourself if your computer is wet, and you certainly do not want to end up getting electrocuted!

Once your computer is off, you should try to soak up as much of the liquid from the surface as you can, and then you should leave your computer open and turn it upside down – so that it resembles an “A”- which will allow the liquid to drain out.

At this point, you reach the toughest part, as the only thing you can do now is wait and hope; give your computer two or three days so that all the machinery will be completely dried out, and then turn on your computer, cross your fingers, and hope for the best!

A hardboiled egg is healthy, and is something you can prepare in advance and take with you on the go, which makes it an awesome snack, but one problem with making a hardboiled egg is that – unlike most foods you cook, where it is usually pretty easy to check whether or not it is done – there is not really any way to know whether or not your hardboiled egg was boiled correctly until you open it up to eat it; for this reason, it is great to know before you get started how to make a perfect hardboiled egg.

The first thing you are going to want to do is fill a pan with enough water that it will cover your eggs with at least an inch to spare; once you have done this, you can bring this water to a boil.

Once you have the water boiling, you can drop your eggs in, and then immediately lower the heat to a simmer, and cover the pan; allow the eggs to sit in the water for 10 minutes – increasing this time to about 12 minutes if you like your hardboiled eggs a bit tougher, and decreasing the time to between 6 and 8 minutes if you are wanting a soft-boiled egg.

After you have waited ten minutes with the pan covered, remove the eggs immediately; if you are going to be eating the eggs right away, you can allow them to cool and can then peel and enjoy, but if you are going to be saving the eggs for several days, you should transfer them to icy water right away, as this will keep the yolk yellow, and will prevent it from turning brownish.

One more thing to think about doing – when you are bringing a hardboiled egg with you on the go – is dropping a peeled hardboiled egg into a plastic sandwich baggie with some of your favorite spices, and shaking this bag up; this will give you some nice flavor to your hardboiled egg, and will make that perfect hardboiled egg you made an even more perfect snack!
